Diamonds

Lab-grown diamonds

Real diamonds with the same carbon crystal as a natural stone, grown in a lab in a matter of weeks. They let you choose a larger or finer diamond for the same budget.

How they're made

Grown, then cut and polished

CVD
Carbon from a gas settles onto a thin diamond seed, layer by layer
HPHT
Carbon is pressed and heated the way the earth makes a diamond, only much faster
Cutting
Lab-grown rough is cut and polished exactly like a natural diamond
Grading
IGI grades most lab-grown diamonds. Every report states that the stone is lab-grown, and the girdle is laser inscribed

Choosing

Natural or lab-grown

They look the same and wear the same. The differences are origin, rarity, price, and how much value they hold later. We'll quote both side by side so you can decide with real numbers.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Something else on your mind? Ask us

Can anyone tell a lab-grown diamond from a natural one?

Not by eye. It takes laboratory equipment, and every graded lab-grown stone is inscribed and reported as lab-grown.

Can I see diamonds before I decide?

Yes. Book a time and our GIA Graduate Gemologist will set out stones in your shape, size, and budget so you can compare them under the loupe.

Do you check the stone against its report?

Every time. We check the measurements, the inclusions, and the laser inscription if there is one against the report before we show you a diamond.
