Diamonds

Diamonds of one carat and up

Above a carat, small differences in cut, color, and clarity become easier to see, and prices jump at popular weights like 1, 1.5, and 2 carats. Here's how to choose well, with a gemologist beside you.

Buying a larger stone

What changes above a carat

Price steps
Prices jump at 1, 1.5, and 2 carats. A 0.95 can look the same as a 1.00 and cost noticeably less
Clarity
Bigger facets show more. Many people move up to VS2 or better above two carats
Color
Warmth is easier to see in a larger stone, especially in platinum or white gold
Report
Insist on a GIA or IGI report, and have an insurance appraisal done once it's set

FAQ

Something else on your mind? Ask us

Can I see diamonds before I decide?

Yes. Book a time and our GIA Graduate Gemologist will set out stones in your shape, size, and budget so you can compare them under the loupe.

Do you check the stone against its report?

Every time. We check the measurements, the inclusions, and the laser inscription if there is one against the report before we show you a diamond.
