Jewelry cleaning and inspection
A professional clean brings back the sparkle that everyday life dulls, and a careful inspection catches loose stones and worn clasps before they become losses. It's free for anything you bought here.

What it costs
Free for jewelry bought here
- Bought at NYDC
- Cleaning and inspection are complimentary
- Bought elsewhere
- There's a small fee, and we'll tell you what it is before we start
- Anything found
- If a prong or clasp needs work, we'll show you and quote it first
How it works
From drop-off to pickup
1
Bring it in
No appointment needed. Walk in any day we're open.
2
Cleaned safely
We choose the method by stone. Diamonds and sapphires can take a deep clean, while softer gems get a gentler hand.
3
Inspected
We check prongs, posts, clasps, and settings under magnification.
4
Back to you
If anything needs attention, we'll show you and quote it before we touch it.
At home
Between visits
- Diamonds and sapphires
- Warm water, a drop of mild dish soap, and a soft toothbrush behind the stone
- Emeralds, opals, and pearls
- Wipe gently with a soft damp cloth. Never use ultrasonic cleaners or soak them
- Gold and platinum
- Soapy water and a soft cloth. Skip toothpaste, which scratches
- Last on, first off
- Put jewelry on after lotion and perfume, and take it off to swim or work out
How often should jewelry be professionally cleaned?
Every six months for pieces you wear daily, like an engagement ring or studs.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in any day we're open.
Can every stone be cleaned the same way?
No. Diamonds, sapphires, and rubies take a deep clean, while emeralds, opals, and pearls need a gentle hand. We choose the method for each piece.
