A single diamond on a plain band. Nothing competes with the stone, which is why the solitaire has been the classic engagement ring for well over a century.
The solitaire setting
What makes a solitaire
- What it is
- One center diamond held by four or six prongs on a plain or slim band
- Why people choose it
- It shows the most of the diamond and goes with any wedding band
- Worth knowing
- Six prongs hold a round more securely. Four prongs show a little more stone
- Shapes that suit it
- Every shape, especially round, oval, and emerald

See them side by side
Photos can't show how a diamond moves in the light. Our GIA Graduate Gemologist will set out stones in your size and budget so you can compare them under the loupe, and our master jeweler makes your ring in our Clearwater workshop.
Four prongs or six?
Six prongs give a round a softer outline and more security. Four show slightly more diamond and give a squarer look. We'll show you both on your stone.
Do you have natural and lab-grown diamonds?
Both. We'll quote them side by side in the same shape and size so you can compare.
Can I see the ring before it's made?
Yes. You'll approve a CAD rendering or a wax model before anything is cast.
