Guide
Birthstones by month
The birthstone for every month, with a note on how each one wears. They make thoughtful gifts, and we can set any of them in a pendant, a ring, or earrings.

By month
The stone for each month
- January
- Garnet. Deep red and durable enough for most jewelry
- February
- Amethyst. Purple quartz that can fade in strong sunlight
- March
- Aquamarine. Pale sea blue, and hard enough for a ring
- April
- Diamond. The hardest of all
- May
- Emerald. Vivid green, usually included, so it needs a protective setting
- June
- Pearl, moonstone, or alexandrite. Pearls are soft and need gentle care
- July
- Ruby. Second only to diamond in hardness
- August
- Peridot. Bright green, and best in earrings and pendants
- September
- Sapphire. As hard as ruby, and it comes in pink, yellow, and green as well as blue
- October
- Opal or tourmaline. Opal is delicate and dislikes heat and chemicals
- November
- Topaz or citrine. Warm golden tones
- December
- Tanzanite, turquoise, or blue zircon
Which birthstones are best for an everyday ring?
Diamond, ruby, and sapphire are the hardest. Garnet, aquamarine, and topaz wear well too. Opal, pearl, and emerald need more care.
Can you make a family ring with several birthstones?
Yes. Our design team can model one in CAD and make it in our workshop.
